The downside of a center mount is that they do not perform as well in powder and choppier snow conditions. Keep in mind that personal preference is garnered from hours skiing and really getting a feel for your skis and ability. Still, some park skiers may prefer their bindings to be mounted a few centimeters back from true center – relative to their own ability and comfort levels. A true center mount also coincides with the symmetrical design of park skis. A center mount distributes your weight evenly when you rotate or ride switch and generally allows for more balance front to back. If you plan on spending most of your time skiing in the terrain park on a set of twin tips, then a center mounted binding is recommended and often preferred by skiers in this domain. This article will give you a broader idea as to why bindings are mounted in certain positions for different pursuits on the mountain. The goal here is not to have you ready to mount bindings yourself after one read. Unless you are a seasoned veteran with ski hardware and well versed in mounting bindings yourself, consult a certified ski technician at your local shop to mount your bindings.
